Project Overview
A residential tiled roof in Bendigo that had accumulated heavy moss, lichen, and leaf debris over more than a decade. The build-up was holding moisture against the tiles and blocking valley gutters, creating a risk of water ingress during heavy rain.
The Challenge
Roof work requires proper safety setup — harness systems, edge protection awareness, and careful footing on wet tiles. The moss growth was particularly dense on the south-facing slope where sun exposure was limited, and several valley gutters were fully blocked with compacted leaf matter.
The Solution
Working from a harness system with appropriate safety measures, we cleared all loose debris by hand before pressure washing each section of the roof methodically. Valleys and gutters were cleared and flushed, and ridge caps were checked for loose mortar. The pressure was kept at a level that removes growth without damaging the tile glaze.
The Result
The roof looks significantly better from the street and, more importantly, is now draining properly. Removing the moss and debris reduces moisture retention on the tiles and extends their lifespan. The client noticed an immediate improvement in gutter flow during the next rainfall.
